The Analog vs Digital Tug of War

Remember when I rejoiced about finally being comfortable drawing on Procreate? Wasn’t it lovely? Now, guess who can’t use a paintbrush anymore? I’m exaggerating, but I found out that the saying “Use it or lose it” definitely holds some truth.

To remedy this, I did a daily inking session, focusing solely on the skills and not on creativity. This killed two birds with one stone, as I have hundreds of folders full of film stills I hoard for reference, but barely ever use.

Other Things I Enjoyed In June

The Pigeon Pageant on New York City’s High Line, which I only heard about thanks to the above-mentioned procrastination issue. You can see the video here.

Some of my favourites: a Mickey & Minnie Mouse tin toy, artworks by the artist himself, Beatrix Potter, and Félix Vallotton, and a book by William Blake (!!)

And that’s it for this month! I spent most of June working on things I can neither show nor talk about — some of it should be out in Autumn, some of it might never see the light of day. Who knows. Keep your fingers crossed. It is very much out of my control.

Thanks for being here. If you think this newsletter would be of interest to somebody else, feel free to forward it to them.

Till next month, take care,

Cath
